About Us

We are a team of caring, helpful and spiritual individuals whose primary responsibility is to ensure that your visits are pleasant and comfortable. We are a team of individuals who care about the patient first and our mission is to build a trusting, interpersonal relationship with each of our clients.


TEAM MEMBERS

Jeffery D. Hartman – D.M.D.

Dr. Hartman earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biochemistry, with course work in nutrition, from the University of Pittsburgh in 1976. He earned his Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) degree from the University of Pittsburgh Dental School in 1980. Upon graduation, he served a two-year commitment with the U.S. Public Health Service at the Southern Huntingdon County Medical Center in Orbisonia, PA. In 1982, he converted the Dental Center to private practice.

Dr. Hartman is active in continuing his education and has taken postgraduate courses at the L.D. Pankey Institute in Florida. He also studied orthodontics in a two-year clinical course sponsored by the American Orthodontic Society in 1982.

Dr. Hartman is a member of the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, Holistic Dental Association and the American Orthodontic Society, the International Association of Mercury Free Dentists and the International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology.

Dr. Hartman and his wife, Amy, have four children and reside in the Huntingdon area. They are an active Christian family and devote time to family activities, martial arts, camping, hiking and raising horses.


Amy Hartman – Accounting Coordinator

Amy is Dr. Hartman’s wife and has handled many responsibilities of the practice since it began in 1980. She served as the business manager from 1982 to 1992. While at home raising four children, Amy has continued to provide accounting services for the practice and enjoys offering consulting help to the team when needed. She holds a B.S. in Music Education from Duquesne University and utilizes her love of music as a vocalist, choir director and pianist for her church and community. She enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with her family riding horses on their farm in Huntingdon.


Shilo VanHart – Financial Coordinator

Shilo, Dr. Hartman’s daughter, has worked in many different areas of the practice over the years. During high school and college she answered the phone as the front office coordinator and also assisted the doctor with treatment. She holds a B.S. degree in Human Resource Management from Messiah College. In October 2005, Shilo returned to the practice as the Financial Coordinator and assists our clients with financial arrangments, as well as performing other administrative duties. Shilo is an avid equestrian and enjoys time riding her horses on her farm in Tyrone, PA. She is married to Buddie VanHart and together they enjoy motorcycles, traveling, and other outdoor activities.


Darlene Riling – Scheduling Coordinator

Darlene joined the Smiles For Life team in October of 2007 as the Scheduling Coordinator. In this role, she schedules appointments for patients, assists with questions about services, and works in other areas of client service. She enjoys the fact that this position allows her the opportunity to inspire patients to achieve the level of dental and overall health that we all strive for. Darlene lives outside of Huntingdon with her husband, Mark and her two sons, Dustin and Darren.


Sandi Boyd – Health Relationship Coordinator

Sandi is a caring and dedicated team member of Smiles For Life and has worked with Dr. Hartman since 1998. She is the New Patient Coordinator that welcomes and orients patients to the practice. In addition, she serves as the Marketing Coordinator and handles the practice promotion and advertising. Sandi shares Dr. Hartman’s passion and obligation to introduce patients to the facts and dangers associated with mercury found in dental fillings. She lives in Alexandria with her husband, Paul and daughters, Kaleigh and Kara.


Heather Metzler – Registered Dental Hygienist

Heather is a 1996 graduate of Allegheny College of Maryland and has been practicing with Dr. Hartman since 2005. Her many years as a hygienist and her desire to help each client achieve dental wellness are evident in the high level of care she provides. Heather lives in her hometown of Martinsburg with her husband, Andy and daughters, Shelby and Sydney. Her hobbies include spending time with family, traveling, scrap booking, gardening, reading, and attending church activities.


Stephanie Fisher – Registered Dental Hygienist

Stephanie joined the Smiles For Life team in 2005 as a dental hygienist and is a 2005 graduate of Allegheny College of Maryland. Pursuing a career in dental hygiene was a natural progression for Stephanie after working as a dental assistant in her father’s dental practice, also located in Huntingdon. She enjoys the opportunity to work with each client to help them maintain the healthiest smile possible. Outside of the office, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her family and friends.



Shannon Shea – Treatment Coordinator

Shannon has been a member of the Smiles For Life team since 2003. She began working as a clinical assistant in 1999 and brings much expertise to each client as she works with them during dental treatment. Shannon truly enjoys her work and says the most rewarding aspect is the relationships made with our clients. Shannon married Jason Shea in 1992. They have a daughter, Taylor, a son, Aaron, and reside in Huntingdon. Her family enjoys picnicking, hiking, and traveling together. They are all involved in a variety of sports and church activities.


Sabrina Mease – Treatment Coordinator

Sabrina joined the Smiles For Life team in July of 2007. She serves our clients as a clinical assistant during their treatment and enjoys the opportunity to help them create the smile they desire. Sabrina lives in Alexandria with her husband David and two dogs, Harley Davidson and Charger Lee. She enjoys working out at the gym, walking her dogs, stitching, racing, volunteering at the Alexandria Fire Company, and spending time with family and friends.
