IV Sedation
Feel More Relaxed and
Comfortable During Dental Procedures
Sedation Dentistry is a safe type of mild sedation provided by Dr. Hartman in our office for patients undergoing dental procedures. Patients who request sedation will be sedated during the entire treatment, so they feel no pain or discomfort. All of the patients dental work can be provided while the patient is sedated. They awake from the procedure with no pain or anxiety, and many feel like they had a pleasant nap with no memory of the dental work done!
All types of dentisty can be done while a patient is sedated, from simple cleanings to surgical extractions. While sedation is often used by patients who fear dental work, it can also be used by patients who want numerous procedures completed at one time.
Here are a few situations where sedation has helped patients:
Relieves stress and anxiety about dental procedures
Helps patients with difficulty getting numb by regular Novacain
Helps with fear of injections with needles
Helps patients who hate the sound or feel of the dental drill or who have uncontrollable gagging
Assists with long dental procedures where sitting for long periods is difficult for the patient.
The level of sedation is completely monitored and adjusted throughout the dental appointment.
Patients who receive sedation will need a ride to the office and home after the procedure. We recommend to patients who have had sedation that they rest the remainder of the day after undergoing this treatment.
Cost will vary depending on the treatment a patient may need. Dr. Hartman will discuss the sedation procedure with interested patients after an inital evaluation of the dental work to be performed.
